KENNEY PROPOSES TO KICK OUT CONVICTED CRIMINALS QUICKLY

See report from CTV below. Although some  will criticize the legislation as "Draconian", I would disagree: the system of appeals as it stands now is laughable and allows serial criminals to remain in Canada for years, sometimes allowing them to re offend. A person convicted of a six month jail term is usually responsible for a very serious crime, as the courts do not impose such jail sentences lightly. We have a duty to protect the public and the law-abiding immigrants who seek a peaceful place to do business, study and work in Canada and raise their families without the fear that they left behind in their home country. While the legislation can be improved and is not perfect, it sends the right message to those seeking to come to Canada: criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
